Griffons are a common site in southern France and Spain. Once I was walking in a Pyrenees valley and came across an injured animal that was causing a great deal of interest amongst the local crows. I could not see the animal but assume it was a marmot. Not having seen a Griffon all day I was amazed to witness sixteen parachute from an invisible height in the sky to descend on the wounded animal. They crashed into the bushes and squabbled with each other. I never did find out what attracted them but their ability to turn up from great distances to find a meal was amazing.
