Black Guillemot

These shots were all taken in the harbour at Oban, Scotland. The Black Guillemots nest in the harbour wall and can be seen paddling about in the water close in and flying back to their nest holes which are either gaps between the rocks or discharge pipes for rainwater. I don’t know what happens when it rains but it can’t do the nests much good.

They are not frightened by humans even at quite close range but as you can see in one of the photos they are not so keen on dogs.
