      Forest of Dean

Ancient woodland but once an area riddled with coal mines.  Timber was all important for roof support.
There is much timber lying on the ground forming a great habitat for all kinds of wildlife.

Behind these trees is the New Fancy viewpoint which is reckoned to be the best place in England to see Goshawk.
I have seen many there and in the breeding season * as many as six can be seen displaying at the same time.  * Feb/March
